Shandwick International has appointed a new board director. She is

Jo Naughton, who joins Shandwick’s corporate practice from youth charity

the Prince’s Trust, where she was director of communications.

Naughton is being brought on board to develop the corporate practice’s

community relations and corporate citizenship offering. She will lead

the Unilever account - one of Shandwick’s largest clients.

She reports to Chris Genasi, chief executive of Shandwick’s corporate

division. The division employs over 45 staff, The appointment is part of

Shandwick’s plans to widen the scope of the corporate offering. In

January, it appointed Joanna Manning-Cooper as associate director, on a

brief to develop consumer affairs work. Genasi plans to make further

appointments in the near future.

Naughton joined the Prince’s Trust in 1995 after working at

consultancies Charles Barker and Harrison Cowley and, briefly, as a

freelance consultant.

Following Naughton’s departure, Clare Winterton is acting as head of

communications at the Prince’s Trust until it decides on a permanent

replacement.

A spokesman said that the charity did not expect to make fundamental

changes to the structure of the team.

Winterton was formerly senior communications manager at the Prince’s

Trust, which was set up in 1976 by the Prince of Wales.
