Private equity investor Cinven has appointed Financial Dynamics on

a six-figure pan-European account.

The appointment follows a four-way competitive pitch, including

incumbent Hudson Sandler, Ludgate Communications and Gavin Anderson and

Company.

The pitch resulted from the brief expanding from UK-only to incorporate

all of Europe. Cinven is opening offices in Paris and Frankfurt later

this year.

’With these offices opening we sought a seamless PR programme to spread

our message more effectively,’ said Monique Dumas, Cinven marketing

manager.

The account will be co-ordinated by FD’s UK managing director Charles

Watson who reports directly to Dumas. Local PR will be carried out by FD

affiliates Ahrens and Behrent in Germany and Image Sept in France.

’The growth of European private equity markets means there are many

opportunities and to prove we mean business we wanted a local presence,’

said Dumas.

Cinven was formed in 1995 from a management buy-out of the National Coal

Board pension funds. It now specialises in providing capital for other

MBOs. In March last year, Cinven and venture capitalist CVC Partners

bought William Hill for pounds 825 million. Earlier this year, it

acquired Odeon Cinemas from the Rank Corporation for pounds 280

million.

- FD has appointed Jon Aarons, current vice-president of the Institute

of Public Relations, as a partner. He will specialise in corporate

communications and reports to David Lloyd, head of FD’s corporate

practice.
