PUBLIC SECTOR: Muscular dystrophy charity names PR head

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has brought in Elaine Bennett as fund-raising and PR director, the top communications job at the charity. Her brief will be to spearhead fund-raising and raise public awareness of the charity’s work. Her first move will be to review PR activity and refocus ’on areas where we are falling behind’, said a spokesman. Bennett will report to executive director Tony Lee and oversee a 15-strong department which includes marketing publications and corporate development. She joins from British Red Cross, where she was corporate partnerships manager and replaces David Sowter, who has moved into the role of regional director for the Midlands.
