Technology: McLaren in digital hire

McLaren Marketing, the division behind the promotion of the McLaren F1 team and its road cars, has appointed the firm's first head of digital media.

Former journalist Derek Harbinson has joined from Cedar Communications, where he was acting editor of Business Life.

Harbinson said: 'This is an exciting time in digital media and marketing, with a boom in mobile and tablet access and apps, alongside the now more traditional websites and email marketing offering a huge range of innovative ways we can communicate with our fans, engage the media, and work with our partners.'
