Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

The BBC has promoted Andrew Scadding to head of corporate and public affairs following the departure of current head of corporate affairs Tina Stowell.

Scadding is the BBC's current head of public affairs and will take on the expanded role after Stowell leaves to pursue a career in politics as a Conservative Party parliamentary candidate.

Tim Hames has returned to the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association to become head of public affairs, comms and campaigns. He joined the BVCA from The Times at the beginning of 2009, but in November left to become special adviser to John Bercow, the newly elected Speaker of the House of Commons.

British Red Cross has appointed Adrian Thomas as head of public relations and public affairs. Thomas joins the charity from the Met Office, where he held the position of senior manager for media relations and public affairs for more than two years. He succeeds Leigh Daynes, who moved to Plan UK as director of comms last year.

Green Alliance, the think-tank, has appointed a new deputy director, Tamsin Cooper. She joins on 6 September from the Institute for European Environmental Policy, where she led the Agriculture and Land Management Programme.
