Ethical Consulting in a bid to raise its profile among key

decision-makers.

The GCI team will be led by Political Counsel head Rod Cartwright and

the recently- appointed James Grugeon. They will report to Ethical board

director Neil Hill.

Ethical sells transport planning, logistics and stakeholder management

consultancy services. The company is hiring its first ever public

affairs agency in a bid to generate new business within Whitehall,

Westminster, local government, trade unions, the NHS and major

employers.

The appointment is also an attempt to generate debate about Green

Transport Plans, mooted in the transport white paper last year and

required of all NHS trusts by 2002. A GTP is a strategy outlining

efforts made when planning for major public developments to take into

account the effect they will have on the environment. This could mean

planning for cycle paths, carshare schemes or making changes to car

parking systems.

GCI is tasked with raising Ethical’s profile among NHS trusts as they

prepare their GTPs. It will also involve media relations with the

national and trade press, and forging contacts in the political

community.
