Hitachi has consolidated its UK and pan-European PR and trade media
relations by appointing Weber Group Europe on fees worth pounds
The brief is two-fold. Weber will co-ordinate different messages from
Hitachi’s Information Media Group (IMG) and Information Systems Group
(ISG). IMG manufactures and distributes monitors, projectors and CCTV
equipment; ISG seeks to integrate smart card expertise with

said senior Weber director Tanya Bunney. ’Our clients are asking us to
help them develop unified messages. They are trying to get consistency
across different product groups,’ she said.
Weber replaces several incumbent agencies, including Harvard PR and
Although IMG and ISG will each have a Weber team running separate
programmes, their efforts will be co-ordinated by Bunney.
The agency consolidation coincides with Hitachi’s shift from being
purely product-driven towards demonstrating how those products can solve
business problems, Bunney said. There will be a greater focus on the
internet and interactive electronics.
