Bristol University, recently in the limelight for being the college
of choice for Prince William, is to place a corporate focus on its PR
with the appointment of its first communications and marketing director.
The creation of the role comes in the wake of the recent appointment of
new registrar Derek Pretty who wants to bring in a proactive
communications strategy in order to promote the university in its key
audiences of students, employers and government policy makers. The new
head will directly oversee a team of seven in the university’s press
office and will also have responsibility for publications and the
university’s web site.
