United Technologies Corporation (UTC), has appointed Biss Lancaster

to lead a European PR campaign as part of a multi-million pound,

fully-integrated communications programme won by parent company Euro

RSCG International Communications.

The PR account will be led by Belinda Taylor, who heads Biss Lancaster’s

corporate communications group following the agency’s restructure (PR

Week, 31 March). She reports to Larry Gavrich, vice-president

communications, who is based in UTC’s Connecticut head office.

The account was won after a competitive pitch undertaken by Biss

Lancaster along with advertising agency and sister company Euro RSCG

Wnek Gosper.

Biss Lancaster’s remit includes media relations, sponsorship and

internal communications. It will also be working with fellow Euro RSCG

agencies ABC in Germany and Euro RSCG Corporate in France.

Research has revealed that although the component parts of UTC are well

recognised in Europe, the corporation itself is little-known. It is the

world’s 125th biggest corporation, with worldwide revenues of over

pounds 15 billion.

UTC’s businesses include Pratt and Whitney, which makes aircraft engines

and Otis, the elevator/escalator company. United Technologies uses

Burson-Marsteller for PR in the US.
