Satellite communications company Inmarsat has appointed Financial
Dynamics to handle financial PR on an international basis.
FD’s remit includes Europe and the rest of the world, with New
York-based Sard Verbinnen handling work in the US.
Stephen Rogers, Inmarsat’s director of marketing and communications, saw
five agencies before making the appointments. Perry Hill, a partner at
Financial Dynamics, will head the Inmarsat account on a day-to-day
basis, reporting to Rogers.
Last year, Inmarsat changed from being an intergovernmental organisation
to a private limited company. At the time, there was an undertaking that
the company would move to an IPO sometime during 2001. Any Inmarsat IPO
is expected to be a multi-billion pound flotation.
It is the first time it has appointed a financial PR agency. Rogers said
seeking external financial advice was ’part of the company’s desire to
move to a more commercial outlook’.
In February, Inmarsat acquired the integrated communications operations
of telecoms business EAE Group.
