EDITORIAL: Beware of future bug implications

But the River of Fire was not the only victim of millennial over-promotion. After a reported spend of pounds 400 billion, it seems the dangers of the millennium bug may have been somewhat overstated.

But the River of Fire was not the only victim of millennial

over-promotion. After a reported spend of pounds 400 billion, it seems

the dangers of the millennium bug may have been somewhat overstated.

But while it is probably safe to come out of the bunker it is still too

soon for back slapping, particularly among small to medium size

enterprises.

One would hope that being in the communications business, public

relations consultancies will not be among those to have buried their

heads in the sand in an effort to cut costs, but only the coming weeks

and months will tell whether they and also their suppliers are totally

bug free.

And finally, lets just hope that unscrupulous companies and clients

don’t decide to use the real or illusory millennium bug as an excuse for

late payment - already the prime factor in a record and rising number of

UK business failures.
