MEDIA: Chronos to take a harder line with The Pink Paper

Gay publisher Chronos has made Mike Ross editor in chief of its national free sheet newspaper The Pink Paper.

Gay publisher Chronos has made Mike Ross editor in chief of its

national free sheet newspaper The Pink Paper.

Ross’s brief is to transform the paper from its current feature-led

stance and will take a more news-led approach.

’There are lots of serious issues facing gay people at the moment such

as Clause 28 and the age of consent, so we thought it was time that the

paper reflected that,’ said David Brindle, general manager at

Chronos.

Ross was previously the paper’s publishing manager. His promotion

follows the departure of former editor Cary James to edit the Chronos

fashion and clubbing title Fluid, which is also being repositioned.

James says he intends to broaden coverage and transform Fluid into a

mainstream news stand title for gay people with features on interiors,

travel reviews and coverage of technology.

’It will be irreverent, satirical, fast and pacey for an affluent and

discerning readership,’ said James.
