BORDER LINES: WASHINGTON - Weber-McGinn buys BG&R

Weber-McGinn, the public affairs arm of Weber PR Worldwide, has purchased government relations firm Barbour Griffith and Rogers (BG&R). Fortune magazine recently ranked BG&R second in its ranking of lobbying firms with the most clout in Washington. Weber-McGinn president Dan McGinn said the deal adheres to his agency’s strategy of ’not looking for an acquisition quick hit or a big-name agency, but instead for quality partners’. Its clients include Delta Airlines, Glaxo Wellcome and Microsoft. The agency was founded in 1991 and has projected 1999 revenues in excess of pounds 5 million.

McGinn emphasized that BG&R will maintain its name and current
