SPAIN: Delta Airlines is recruiting agencies across Europe after a

wide-ranging review of its PR requirements in the region.

The world’s most flown airline has just hired tourism PR specialist

Sergat Espana in Spain on a consumer and press relations brief after a

six-way pitch. The agency will start work on the one-year contract

immediately.

Sergat’s managing director, Marc Meister, will head the account,

reporting to Delta Europe’s London-based corporate communications

manager, Olivia Cullis.

Cullis appointed new agencies in France and Germany late last year,

having been promoted to her role at Delta last August. ’We want to get

best value in each market,’ she said.

Delta’s agency work had been largely project-based until Cullis’s

promotion.

She secured funding for greater use of consultancies, and plans to

review the situation in a year.

Delta appointed Ketchum France last month. The airline has used Ketchum

in the UK on assorted projects since 1997, and retains Ketchum in the

US. Ketchum France won the work, covering strategic media relations,

issues management and corporate communications, after a six-way

pitch.

Fiona Olivier, account director at Ketchum France, said a recent

strategic link between Delta and Air France was the reason for Delta’s

profile-raising exercise.

In Germany, Delta brought tourism PR specialist Wilde and Partners on

board on an annual retainer last October, after a four-way pitch

including Ketchum’s German operation. Wilde launched Delta’s new

BusinessElite business class product last April. Marion Blank will lead

the account team, reporting to Cullis.
