On-line travel agency Ebookers.com has appointed GCI Focus on six-figure fees to handle its European financial media and investor relations.

On-line travel agency Ebookers.com has appointed GCI Focus on

six-figure fees to handle its European financial media and investor

relations.

The agency replaces incumbent Bankside Consultants. The pitch also

involved Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Gavin Anderson.

Ebookers sells negotiated discount fares, hotel bookings, holiday

insurance and car hire. Bankside had handled the listing of Ebookers on

both NASDAQ and the Neuer market in November. It raised pounds 38

million by selling 20 per cent of its equity.

The account will be managed from London by GCI Focus MD Alex Mackey, but

will also involve the agency’s offices in France, Germany, Finland,

Norway and Sweden.

Mackey said: ’Ebookers is a genuine European company, although

headquartered in London. The programme needs a hub so it makes sense to

run it from London.’ According to Mackey, the programme will include the

company’s financial results, as well as promoting it to future

acquisitions and investors.

GCI Focus will report to Ebookers finance director Sanjiv Talwar and

Ebookers CEO Dinesh Dhamija. The agency’s other internet-related clients

include web hosting company Integra and Redstone Telecom.

- GCI Focus has been appointed by Cantor Index, the new financial spread

betting service due to launch later this year, after a non-competitive

pitch.
