Luther Pendragon has been appointed by The Stationery Office on

substantial six-figure fees to launch itsofficial.net, an internet

portal for reliable public information.

The one-year contract was awarded after the failure of a four-way pitch

last autumn to yield an appropriate agency.

The Stationery Office, the commercial arm of Her Majesty’s Stationery

Office, has not ruled out appointing one of the unsuccessful agencies,

thought to include Midnight Communications and Mulberry Marketing

Communications, on a consumer brief in the spring.

Ross Hall, newly-installed business development director for

itsofficial.net, said the Office had made good government relations a

priority over consumer profile-raising, and concluded that the initial

list of agencies did not fit the bill.

The six-strong team from Luther Pendragon began work on the account this

week, reporting to Hall, under the joint leadership of Ben Rich and

Simon Maule.

- Luther Pendragon has won an account from Bloomberg TV to raise the

profile of the financial news service after ending its relationship with

Bloomberg rival Dow Jones last month.
