The Lanarkshire Development Agency is to review its account with

Beattie Media and has advertised for an in-house PR manager.

Beattie, which was involved in a scandal last year over claimed access

to the new Scottish Parliament, has worked for the Lanarkshire agency

for ten years.

Beattie’s latest three-year contract expired in December, but the PR

firm has been asked to stay on until a PR manager is appointed.

The PR manager’s main responsibility will be to liaise with the Scottish

Parliament. The Beattie scandal has made some organisations,

particularly public bodies, nervous of hiring lobbying agencies.

The job was advertised at the end of last year with a salary up to

pounds 40,000.

It will be the first full time in-house PR role at the development body.
