Clarke plunders Virgin Net for ic24

David Clarke, group managing director at Trinity Mirror, has poached three senior editorial staff from his former employer Virgin Net, to boost the ic24 on-line team.

Rebecca St Johnston has been recruited as managing director of content,

with Rick Glanvill as deputy managing director of content and David

Black as managing editor of content.

St Johnston and her team will be responsible for driving the development

of all ic24’s on-line content, ranging from sport, to entertainment, to

motoring, and will report to Clarke.

’The content team produced consistent, award winning, revenue generating

content and are set to continue that work at ic24,’ said Clarke.

The new team will also be recruiting more editorial staff for ic24,

which launched less than six months ago. Since then it has built a user

base of 200,000 and offers a range of news and information services. St

Johnston expects to double the current editorial team of 17 over the

next four months.

Clarke left his role as chief executive of Virgin Net in April after two

years, and has also poached his former finance director, Richard Rees

and sales director Jason Smith.
