Responsible for all internal and external communications, Primrose joined the company in 1999 from Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, rising from being a spokesman for Time Warner on corporate issues.

In a memo, AOL CEO Tim Armstrong commented: 'Trish will leave the role having completed one of the most important events and stepping stones in the history of the company – AOL’s re-emergence as a stand-alone public company.'

It is understood that Primrose is standing down due to family reasons and Armstrong added that AOL would be 'opening an external and internal search for a successor'.
