MEDIA BRIEFS: Jefferies appointed as Beat controller

Beat 106, the commercial dance music station for the Glasgow region which was purchased by Capital Radio last month for pounds 33.75 million, has appointed Andrew Jeffries as programme controller. Most recently Jeffries was programme controller at Southern FM in Sussex which is also part of the Capital Radio Group. He replaces John Collins who has left the station. Beat,which has been on the air for a year, has a weekly reach of 400,000.
