H&K gets Brazilian oil brief; Weatherbys bank chooses Peregrine.

Hill & Knowlton has confirmed its appointment by Brazilian oil firm Petrobras (Petroleo Brasileiro), first revealed by PRWeek (25 June). H&K will become Petrobras' global corporate agency following a competitive pitch. The agency will work with Petrobras' comms teams in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to plan and implement global media relations strategies to expand the firm's international presence.

Weatherbys, the family-run private bank, has called in Peregrine Communications to help build its private banking and wealth management business. This is the first time Weatherbys, established in 1770, has appointed a comms agency. Peregrine founder Anthony Payne is leading the account.

Clare Murphy-McGreevey has joined the Investment Management Association (IMA), the trade body for the UK's £3 trillion asset management industry, as press officer. Previously, she worked for Penrose Financial.

Yellow Jersey PR has been selected by Red Ribbon Asset Management, an investor and promoter of private equity projects in emerging markets. The account will be run by Yellow Jersey MD Dominic Barretto. Initially, the agency will handle strategies for a new carbonneutral budget hotel brand called Ecolodge, which is expanding across India. Yellow Jersey will also be responsible for advising Armaec Energy Group, a developer of wind farms in the emerging market regions of India and Armenia.

Berkeley Resources has appointed Conduit PR as its retained financial PR adviser. The AIM-listed firm is a uranium producer with exploration and development projects in Spain.
