After five years without an external PR agency, frozen food brand

Findus has hired Pielle Consulting.

The appointment follows Findus’ sale by Nestle in January this year to

Swedish venture capital group EQT. During the last two years, Nestle had

undertaken no public relations activity whatsoever on behalf of

Findus.

Pielle Consulting will handle trade and consumer PR for Findus in the

UK. It was actually the last PR agency to support the brand, working on

it from 1983 to 1995 during which time it launched such well-known

brands as Lean Cuisine to the British public in 1985.

Despite the previous relationship with Pielle, Findus heard pitches from

three other agencies. Fees for the account are in the six-figure

region.

Carol Friend, managing director of the agency, heads the account, which

also she worked on throughout the previous tenure. She reports to Findus

UK managing director John Brittain and Suzanne Nagel who is the European

marketing director and is charged with revitalising the brand.
