Financial services specialist Biddick Harris has split from parent
company Biddick Associates, the corporate, City and investor relations
specialist, and rebranded as Quill Communications.
The new agency takes all its existing clients including Clerical
Medical, ABN AMRO Fund Managers and Lazard Asset Management. Fee income
is in excess of pounds 400,000.
Biddick Associates managing director Zoe Biddick insisted that, although
she regretted it, the move was amicable.
And although there was ’very little overlap’ between the work of Biddick
Associates and Biddick Harris, she admitted the loss of revenue would
have an impact. ’There is bound to be a marginal effect,’ she said, even
though Biddick Associates’ fee income is ’slightly larger’ than its
former financial services arm. There were no shared clients.
According to Quill director Gordon Puckey, he and ex-Biddick Harris
managing director Fiona Harris took the decision to split from Biddick
Associates because they wanted to run their own separate business.
Harris is now managing director of Quill.
Biddick denied that the move would force the agency to refocus its
brief, saying that Biddick Associates would continue with its
’traditional core business’ of work with public companies during reports
or mergers and acquisitions.
Biddick’s fellow directors Shane Dolan and Katie Tzouliadis will remain
at Biddick along with six other employees. The Biddick Harris brand
ceases to exist. In addition to Puckey and Harris, Quill is staffed by
associate director Jo Stonier and account manager Lynne Kennedy.
