WPP merges healthcare shops Ogilvy Healthworld and CommonHealth

WPP has merged Ogilvy Healthworld and CommonHealth, to make the largest healthcare communications network in the world.

The new group will be called Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide and will have more than 1,100 employees in 33 countries.

It will offer PR, public affairs, medical education, clinical trial recruitment, advertising and promotion, relationship marketing, digital services, media planning and buying, market research and strategic consulting.

CommonHealth’s president and CEO Matt Giegerich will become chairman and CEO of the new organisation.

He said: ‘CommonHealth has collaborated extensively with Ogilvy Healthworld for the past 15 years. By combining our two organisations we can now offer clients all the communications resources necessary to create and grow powerful, unified global brands in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.’

Miles Young, global CEO of Ogilvy & Mather, where the new group will be housed, said: ‘Healthcare business is undergoing a seismic shift as clients seek greater efficiency and effectiveness for agency alignments. The scale this venture brings us will be a powerful catalyst to this change, and will give clients access, innovation and creativity, in depth, around the world.’
