Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Lansons Communications head of public affairs Ben Abbotts has been promoted to the board. Abbotts, a former Lib Dem parliamentary candidate, joined Lansons in 2007. He previously held senior roles at the now defunct LLM Communications.

The British Property Federation has appointed journalist Patrick Clift as its public affairs manager. Clift joins from property magazine Estates Gazette. He replaces Kurt Mueller, who has joined residential landlord Grainger as PR manager.

The Cabinet Office expects to publish details of its plans for a lobbying register in the next few months. In a written answer to the House last week, Cabinet Office junior minister Mark Harper stated: 'Ministers will meet representatives of the UK Public Affairs Council shortly to discuss how to create the most effective register, on a statutory footing. We hope to publish detailed plans in the autumn.'

Open Road has hired John Williams as head of research from the Office of Fair Trading's external relations team. He has previously worked in Parliament for Lib Dem MP Simon Hughes.

APCO Worldwide has promoted Paolo Nicoletti to MD of its Brussels office. He replaces Singapore-bound Garry Walsh.
