The Telegraph Group has appointed Joy Grover, a senior account
director at Hill and Knowlton, to its most senior PR role - corporate
Grover will take up her position in late-September, replacing Patrick
Barrow, who left at the end of June after three years with the
Barrow has yet to announce his next job.
Grover has been charged with implementing a new thrust in the paper’s
promotional activities - promoting the profile of Telegraph journalists
by increasing their TV appearances. She heads a team of four and reports
to marketing director Hugo Drayton.
Other responsibilities will include managing Daily and Sunday
Telegraph-sponsored events such as the Chelsea Flower Show.
The ’weight’ of the role has been slightly diluted since Conrad Black,
owner of the Telegraph Group, bought out minority shareholders several
years ago and placed the company on the US stock exchange under the
Hollinger International umbrella.
Financial PR has been increasingly handled by Paul Healy, who heads the
corporate press office of holding company Hollinger International in New
York. This contributed to Barrow’s decision to leave, said Drayton.
