TCG gains APCO director to lead political division

The Communication Group (TCG) has poached APCO UK associate director Mark Adams to head its political division.

The Communication Group (TCG) has poached APCO UK associate

director Mark Adams to head its political division.

Adams’ announcement came within hours of the resignation of TCG’s most

senior public affairs consultant, John Arnold, who has quit the agency

to set up his own consultancy with colleague David Beamer. Arnold and

Beamer work on public affairs accounts at TCG, including BNFL and the

London Tourist Board.

Adams is expected to leave APCO later this month. At TCG, he will report

to group MD Peter Hamilton and lead an eight-strong division, which is

TCG’s highest fee-earning division, alongside the consumer practice.

He replaces Peter Bingle, who moved over after four years to become

managing director of GPC in July (PR Week, 9 July).

As a divisional board director, Arnold was effectively Bingle’s

deputy.

Both his move and that of Beamer are believed to be unrelated to Adams’

appointment, and their new launch plans are still under wraps.

Adams joined APCO 18 months ago from the civil service, where he worked

both at the Department for Employment and 10 Downing Street.

Arnold and Beamer had worked for TCG for two-and-a-half years and 18

months respectively.
