MASSACHUSETTS: Broadcast services specialist Medialink has formed

an alliance with Weber PR Worldwide to serve as the agency’s preferred

provider of internet, broadcasting and PR research services.

Under the agreement, Medialink will provide Larry Weber’s agency with

technology such as internet-based streaming video and audio and

satellite media tours.

While the deal may appear to limit choices for Weber clients, the

agreement is non-exclusive, meaning that clients whose contracts

stipulate that they receive price quotes from multiple vendors will

still have a choice.

Weber’s vice-president of interactive communications Scott MacIver said

that Medialink would be the agency’s first option, unless they didn’t

have the best resources for a particular project.

’We looked at the available choices in the marketplace, and Medialink

has the broadest base of services,’ he said. ’They’re the right partner

going forward.’

Although it may not seem necessary to formalise the vendor relationship,

both parties said that there were pricing and efficiency benefits in

doing so. Medialink’s vice-president of marketing communications Gary

Miller promised that the new relationship would not prevent the company

from being able to deliver its services to other agencies.

’We have a history of being able to juggle many clients,’ he said. ’We

have a series of stringers in every city around the world, and we know

what we can and can’t do.’

Medialink remains free to forge similar partnerships with other

agencies, something Miller hopes will happen later in the year.
