Mentorn Barraclough Carey, producer of BBC 2’s Robot Wars, has hired Avalon Publicity to co-ordinate PR strategy for a new range of merchandise based on the programme. It includes a magazine, published by BBC Worldwide, a video, distributed by Universal and a range of toys, based on Robot Wars’ ’house robots’, such as Sir Killalot (pictured above). In the show, competitors pit their homemade robots against those of other competitors, and winners tackle an obstacle course featuring the house robots. Robot Wars is BBC 2’s highest-rating programme, regularly attracting audiences of more than six million.
