Kent Tourism, a department of Kent County Council, has appointed

Tunbridge Wells-based Maxim PR and Marketing on a three-year account to

promote the county as a holiday destination to UK tourists.

Maxim partner Andrew Metcalf will lead the account team and reports to

Kent Tourism’s marketing manager Sharon Pullen.

The campaign will mix media relations for the travel press with

marketing and advertising. It will focus on three main topics: World War

II (since 2000 sees the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain over

Kent); Christianity - marketing Canterbury as the ’original faith zone’;

and literature - marking the 600th anniversary of the death of Geoffrey

Chaucer.

The county is visited by almost three million British tourists each

year, spending in the region of pounds 300 million.
