German telecom company o.tel.o has hired its first communications
director, Christian Hoppe as it seeks to gain market share from former
state-owned monopoly Deutsche Telekom. Hoppe, who began his new job last
month, will lead a team of seven and report to o.tel.o managing director
Thomas Geitner.
Before joining the company, Hoppe was spokesperson for former
state-owned German railway company Deutsche Bahn. The deregulation of
the German telecom market was effective from January 1998.
