BONN: Shandwick Germany’s chief executive officer, Lutz Meyer, has
been promoted to the new position of director for Shandwick Europe,
which covers the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Meyer will continue as German CEO, managing the firm’s five agencies in
Germany, alongside his new responsibilities.
As Shandwick Europe director, Meyer will oversee the day-to-day
management of Shandwick’s 14 wholly-owned offices and 35 affiliate
agencies in mainland Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The firm counts
a 220-strong staff across the region. He will report to Shandwick Europe
chief executive Michael Murphy.
Meyer, 39, said: ’I look forward to playing a key role in developing
Shandwick in Europe to ensure that we are fulfilling our clients’
current needs and anticipating their future needs.’
Meyer has held the post of CEO in Germany since 1994, during which time
Shandwick has acquired or started up three new offices in Frankfurt,
Munich and Berlin. Current Shandwick Germany clients include courier
company TNT Express Worldwide, food giant Nestle and electronics firm
Siemens.
Meyer previously worked for Kommunikation - the agency which became
Shandwick Bonn - for eight years before it was acquired in 1988, rising
to become the agency’s managing director in 1992.
Earlier this year, the former managing director of Shandwick’s mainland
Europe operation, Volker Stoltz, left and was not replaced as part of a
cost-cutting restructure (PR Week, 27 March). His responsibilities were
taken on by Murphy.
