Burton will have responsibility for Camelot's media relations and publicity units. He will manage a team of ten and be responsible for enhancing the reputation of Camelot and the UK National Lottery, including its range of games, winners and unclaimed prizes.
He joins Camelot in August, and will report to director of corporate affairs Richard Peel.
Burton has worked at Fishburn Hedges for 13 years on clients including the Olympic Delivery Authority, Department for Work and Pensions, Nestle and Tesco Bank.
Meanwhile, Kathryn Williamson is leaving her role as Camelot's controller of publicity at the end of this month to take a sabbatical.
