PUBLIC SECTOR: University for Industry picks comms head

The University for Industry has brought in David Croisdale-Appleby to set-up and run the communications function at the new government body, which promotes learning through IT and comes into being in 2000. Croisdale-Appleby will head a communications department which will ultimately number some 45 staff. He will work closely with the director of policy development, Jim Reid, on all aspects of marketing and communications, and will report to the body’s chief executive, Dr Anne Wright. Retained agency Grayling will continue to provide day-to-day press office support and work with UFI when it launches next year. Croisdale-Appleby joins from his own marketing consultancy, Creative Synergy, where he was chairman and chief executive.
