Lucas Varity, the automotive and aerospace components company taken

over by US rival TRW earlier this year, has lost its group corporate

relations director.

Nicholas Jones left the company on Wednesday, without announcing his

next move, after two-and-a-half years. He was unavailable for

comment.

Before joining Lucas Varity in 1997, Jones was corporate relations

director at publishing group Reed Elsevier. Prior to that, he was an

associate director at Good Relations.

Corporate PR for Lucas Varity will now be handled at TRW headquarters in

Cleveland, Ohio, under external and automotive communications

vice-president Michael Jablonski.

Lucas Varity’s IR function is headed by Joe Canti. Canti will stay on,

but it is not clear whether he will remain in London or move to the

US.

Jones and Canti worked alone at the corporate headquarters, while a team

of 15 PR staff for the company’s various divisions were scattered across

Europe and the US. They have now all transferred to TRW.

During the takeover, TRW retained Citigate Dewe Rogerson for financial

PR. The agency continues to work for TRW on an ad-hoc basis, but the

company is reviewing its UK financial PR needs.

Countrywide Porter Novelli continues to handle Lucas Varity’s spare

parts division, and TRW retains Burson-Marsteller in the US as its

corporate PR agency.
