DIARY: Rival airlines see the need to be in with Flynn

Qantas executives no doubt appointed Brighter PR at least partly becaue of managing director Debbie Flynn’s experience in the travel industry.

Qantas executives no doubt appointed Brighter PR at least partly

becaue of managing director Debbie Flynn’s experience in the travel

industry.

But one can’t help wonder how they feel about the the fact that in 1983

Flynn featured as a cardboard cutout promotion for BA.

Apparently, Debbie’s life-size alter ego can still be found, somewhat

sun-bleached and dusty from the passage of time, in sleepy travel agents

around the globe.’Somebody approached me four years ago and said they’d

seen me in Delhi, standing very still in a shop window,’ said

Debbie.

PR Week can also reveal that while Debbie was visiting Qantas in Sydney,

New South Wales recently, she was woken by a 1am phone call ... Was it

some one reporting that Debbie had been spotted, motionless, in Oslo?

No, it was one of her staff calling from Hammersmith to say Brighter PR

had sealed an account with the Tourism Office of Wales. In other words,

old South Wales - another coincidence.
