MEDIA BRIEFS: Government funding for YMCA’s Dad mag

A magazine aimed at promoting the idea that fatherhood can be cool has been launched by the YMCA. The pilot issue of Dad, priced at pounds 3.25, is Government-funded and edited by Tom Beardshaw, a director of the think-tank Fathers Direct. The pilot issue has a print run of 10,000, and can be ordered through YMCA centres and over the phone. Depending on its success, the Government will either pay for further issues or the publishers will fund it through advertising.
