Former Ludgate staff resurface at Square Mile

Square Mile has appointed former Ludgate Communications deputy chairman David Simpson and director Terry Garrett as partners.

Square Mile has appointed former Ludgate Communications deputy

chairman David Simpson and director Terry Garrett as partners.

Both Simpson and Garrett take up directorships and will jointly head a

new division at Square Mile focusing on M&A work for large

companies.

’Traditionally Square Mile has not been as strong on M&A work. Both

David and Terry are extremely experienced in M&A, and financial PR per

se,’ said CEO Paul Philpotts.

Simpson and Garrett will seek to build their division through new client

wins and Philpotts expects them to employ five or six staff by the end

of the year. The agency’s existing client base falls into three areas -

financial, corporate and small companies.

Both appointees are former financial journalists on national

newspapers.

Simpson worked on the Observer and the Guardian, while Garrett is a

former journalist on the Financial Times and the Independent. They both

report to MD Tim Jackaman.

Ludgate announced late last year (PR Week 12 November) that Simpson and

Garrett, together with fellow director Michael Tate would leave to

’pursue other interests’.

All three were part of Ludgate’s special projects team, which ceases to

exist in the wake of their departures. Its activities have been absorbed

into other teams.
