Opinion: From our Readers - Best agencies already planning for cuts ..

Your article about public spending cuts ('£40m to be axed from Gov't PR', 28 May) rightly points out that these are challenging times for public sector agencies.

Yet, the cuts are not unexpected and the best agencies will already have been planning their business strategies accordingly.

Competition for fewer contracts will, no doubt, be fierce over the coming months, but I am optimistic the agencies that can best demonstrate how they add value and deliver genuine results will continue to have a role in public sector communications.

Indeed, increased competition and a greater focus on measurable, tangible benefits can only lead to better results for the client and greater value for money within the sector overall - surely an aim no agency could be against?
