Following the negative publicity generated by Tango and Findus’
sponsorship of last year’s Christmas lights, the Oxford Street
Association (OSA) has appointed Camron PR in a bid to attract positive
coverage this year. The lights will have no corporate sponsors and the
pounds 15,000 it costs to finance the lights has been raised by the
members of the OSA, including Selfridges and John Lewis. A press
conference organised by Camron is scheduled for early next month to
announce who will turn on the lights on 18 November. The decorations
will remain lit until the end of January in celebration of the
millennium.
