BBC Worldwide has sold a stake in its internet ventures, beeb.com
and freebeeb.net, the ISP. The pounds 32.5 million paid by US internet
investor TH Lee Global Internet Managers will be used to develop the
BBC’s online offerings under the auspices of a new subsidiary, beeb
Ventures. The BBC’s plan is to use outside partners to help fund
development and marketing of the services as public uptake increases and
it targets the ’middle England’ market.
