Digi International, a supplier of technology which links computers
into networks, has appointed Niek van Bemmel as its first European PR
manager. His first task is to review Digi’s PR accounts as it attempts
to introduce a less product based strategy.
PR is currently handled by Strategic Alliance in the UK and France, and
Strautner and Strautner in Germany. Van Bemmel said: ’We’ve focused too
much on products in the past.’ Additional activity is expected to link
the Digi brand to industry issues.
Digi recruited van Bemmel from UK hi-tech agency Johnson King where he
was an account manager. Previous to this he handled PR for Hewlett
Packard’s peripherals group in Germany.
He will report to Digi European marketing manager Nicola Bogle. European
MD David Allen said: ’By having dedicated specialists in our marketing
team, we can now maximise our marketing and communications efforts.’
Formed 11 years ago, Digi is a German company which produces ’slot-in’
interface cards to link PCs and laptop computers into shared
networks.
Its main offices are in Cologne, Paris and Bagshott, Surrey.
