Yale has hired the Public Relations Business to handle its locks
and alarms account.
The security products firm has reviewed its PR after a pounds 1.3
billion takeover by its parent company, Williams Holdings, of rival
locks firm Chubb. The group now controls 30 per cent of the total lock
market, and is the biggest player in its field.
For a six-figure fee, PRB will represent Yale, Chubb and its subsidiary
Union Locks.
’We will target local authorities, schools, architectural ironmongers
and consumers,’ said Julien Speed, managing director of PRB.
Following Chubb’s take-over this spring, its six-strong PR and publicity
team was made redundant. PR duties were transferred to marketing
directors within each of the new company’s divisions.
Corporate communications director Chris Bailey left Chubb before the
takeover. Press relations manager Chris Swan remains on a short term
contract to cover PR for fire extinguishers.
Chubb handled PR in-house while Yale ended its contract with Barkers
Communications before the takeover.
