San Francisco-based clothing retailer The Gap is looking for a new
director of European public relations.
The post is vacant following the departure of Kelly Walsh, who left The
Gap last week to become founding partner of Renegade, a new PR and
advertising consultancy.
The search for a replacement for Walsh comes just after The Gap decided
to dispense with the services of its agency Life PR and bring its UK PR
activities in-house.
The retailer continues to use agencies in Europe, with Pietri in France,
Schroder and Schombs in Berlin and Die Strolche in Munich.
The European PR position includes developing and executing PR strategy
across the continent and overseeing two PR managers and the community
relations manager. Walsh reported to the vice-president of international
marketing, Pascal Somarriba and co-ordinated the external agencies in
France and Germany.
The Gap launched its first UK television advertising campaign last month
featuring music and film celebrities, such as rapper LL Cool J and Lukas
Haas, both of whom wrote original music for the commercials.
