AT Mays, the UK’s biggest independent travel agency chain, has signed up
Results PR in an effort to raise its profile to match rivals Going
Places and Lunn Poly.
Results, which has offices in Gatwick and Corby, was appointed last week
over three other travel specialists. It will carry out a six month
consumer and trade campaign worth around pounds 25,000 in fees.
AT Mays, the third-largest travel agent in the UK after Lunn Poly and Going Places, is planning to expand its 417 branches to 500 by the end of the year with new openings in the South West, South East and East
The company’s head of PR Alan Ramsay, who previously handled all
external PR, said Results’ job will be to spread this message of
expansion while he focuses on internal communications.
Ramsay is planning to reach AT Mays’ 2,700 staff via the company’s
newsletter Mays Magazine, which will be expanded, and new staff
Commenting on the win, John Craske, proprietor of Results, said: ‘AT
Mays wants to be spoken of in the same breath as Lunn Poly or Thomas
Cook. At the moment there is not the same awareness.’
AT Mays was acquired by the Carlson Travel Group, part of one of
American’s largest privately-owned companies in 1990.
The travel chain last used Charles Barker four years ago before Ramsay’s
Results’ existing clients in the travel industry include holiday centre
Pontins, city break specialists Cresta and coach tour operator Leger.
