Cathy Pittham, the co-founder and former director of hi-tech and
consumer agency Spreckley Pittham, has joined Icas Public Relations.
Pittham, who formally quit Spreckley Pittham at the beginning of this
month (PR Week, 3 May), was appointed a director of Icas last week
with a brief to build up the agency’s IT, communications and media
business.
She becomes Icas’s third director, alongside Anne Layton and Carl
Courtney who jointly own the agency. It is understood that Pittham’s
arrival will prompt a redistribution of the agency’s share capital.
Formed ten years ago, Icas mainly handles corporate and business-to-
business work, Clients include Reed Exhibitions, lighting firm Osram and
Plysu, the plastics and household goods company.
With 28 staff, the agency increased fee income last year by 18 per cent
to pounds 1.2 million, placing it at number 58 in this year’s PR Week
Top 150 ranking.
‘We were being approached by technology companies and the whole process
of talking to Cathy was to have her build up that side of the business,’
explained MD Courtney. ‘She is a very good operator and I think she will
make a very important contribution to the company.’
Pittham, who was barred from taking Spreckley Pittham clients with her,
heads a four-strong team devoted to hi-tech business. Software company
Computer Standby has already handed its PR account to the agency. Icas
has also won business from Pick Systems, Pinnacle and RES over the last
two months.
