The British Lung Foundation has hired Darren Sanders as
publications and communications manager as it attempts to raise
awareness and funds in the battle against lung disease.
Sanders, who joins from the charity Eye Care Information Service where
he was communications manager, is responsible for overseeing all PR
strategy and the production of in-house publications. He will also
oversee the foundation’s internet sitek and manage its relationship with
retained agency Munro and Forster.
He will also help to co-ordinate ’Breathe Easy’ week next May which
involves a series of events to draw attention to the problem of lung
diseases.
Sanders replaces Julie Davis, who left earlier this year and he reports
to chief executive Bengie Walden.
The charity’s PR effort will focus on raising public donations as well
as raising general awareness: ’Eight million people have lung conditions
but only two per cent of scientific research budgets are devoted to the
problem,’ said Sanders.
