A new telecom company, Localtel, which is offering cheap rates to
BT customers, has brought in Prowse and Company to build its profile
across the UK.
The agency won the six-figure account in a competitive pitch and will
attempt to build Localtel’s profile as it launches its service over
coming months. It will target national and regional titles.
Godalming-based Localtel is the first company to take advantage of BT’s
recent decision to franchise out parts of the customer service side of
its business. It will offer cuts of around 10 per cent to phone bills
but customers remain connected to the BT network.
Julie Swift, head of PR at Localtel, said: ’Prowse and Company operates
both national and international programmes and will be helping us roll
out the service across the UK.’
Although it has been approved by BT as a supplier Localtel will act as a
competitor on the nationwide customer service side of the business.
It wants Prowse and Company to build its reputation based on its cheap
offers and range of extra services.
Doug Walker, associate director at Prowse and Company, said: ’We have
experience in handling PR for the telecoms industry and we are also
experienced in overseeing regional programmes.’
