Philippe Bourgignon, chairman of struggling French resort chain

Club Mediterranee, has overhauled the firm’s in-house public

relations.

Former RCA Records director Christian Thevanet has joined as director of

product communication and PR, while former Seagram communications

director Isabelle Desmet has been named director of industrial

communications.

In an effort to co-ordinate communications more effectively, Bourgignon

has also appointed Euro Disney’s former strategy chief Maria Outters as

strategy director.

The changes come just two months after Bourgignon joined Club Med from

Euro Disney where he was chairman for three years. Largely credited with

restoring the fortunes of the ailing theme park, Bourgignon wants to

extend Club Med’s appeal to the family and the youth market.

Club Med manages 150 resort villages in 35 countries but has struggled

to keep up with low cost competitors and changes in consumer tastes.

Last year it made losses of pounds 80 million.
