Interflora’s former head of marketing, Howard Park, has returned as
communications manager to help improve the company’s internal
communications following a much publicised boardroom struggle.
Park was appointed to the newly created post last week by the mutual
society’s new board of members, chaired by florist Geoff Hughes.
The new board was voted in at a special meeting earlier this month by
members who disagreed with the previous board’s plans to increase
membership fees and turn Interflora into a conventional company with a
view to floating it on the stock exchange.
Park joined Interflora as head of marketing 11 years ago and has
returned after a two-month stint of independent consultancy work. ’The
priority is to get people round the table to talk to each other and find
common ground and that’s one of the roles I wish to play,’ he said.
The previous board, chaired by David Parry, had used the Hogarth
Partnership, which broke away from Shandwick International this year.
